Application Documents

Application Documents - Type A: Required documents for online application
Type A : Compulsory Documents for Online Application
Application Form & Statement of Purpose Can be written in English, Korean or Both
  • 01. Describe your medium and long-term vision as a researcher and motivations for pursuing a graduate degree in your chosen program of study at DGIST. (Within 300 words in English or 1,000 letters in Korean)
  • 02. Discuss your research interest, its significance and future plans for it. (Within 300 words in English or 1,000 letters in Korean)
  • 03. Write your relevant academic and research experiences, achievements related to your applying field (such as research accomplishments, publications, honors and awards). (Write about each of the three themes above, emphasizing keywords so that your strength comes to light. It needs to be within 60 words in English or 200 letters in Korean per each theme.)
  • 04. Describe experiences solving problems or conflict while participating in volunteering works and extracurricular activities. (Write within 150 words in English or 500 letters in Korean)

Applicants of Interdisciplinary Engineering are required to contact a DGIST faculty member researching in a lab of their interest before submitting the online application

PhD applicants of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering are required to contact a DGIST faculty member researching in a lab of their interest before submitting the online application, and also indicate their preferred research lab in their statement of purpose

Applicants of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science are required to indicate the top (up to three) research field(s) that interest them in their statement of purpose

Application Documents - Type B: Academic Documents for Online Application
Type B : Academic Documents for Online Application
  • Type B is required to be uploaded as a single PDF file on the online application page through UwayApply
  • Both of Type B documents must be in English

    If not, a notarized English translation must be uploaded along with the original documents during the online application

  • Both of Type B documents must be either apostilled or notarized by the Korean Embassy in the location of the university from which the applicant graduated
Certificate of (Expected) Graduation
  • M.S. and Integrated MS & Ph.D. applicants : Undergraduate graduation (or degree) certificate
  • Ph.D. applicants : both Undergradute and Graduate graduation (or degree) certificate

Expected or provisional graduation certificates may be submitted, but official graduation certificates are required to be further submitted before admission

Academic Transcripts
  • M.S. and Integrated MS & Ph.D. applicants : Undergraduate academic transcripts
  • Ph.D. applicants : both Undergradute and Graduate academic transcripts

Applicants of New Biology are required to specify the class rank on the academic transcript (if available)

Application Documents - Type C: Optional documents for online application
Type C : Optional Documents for Online Application
English Proficiency Test Certificates
  • Compulsory for the applicants of New Biology and Interdisciplinary Engineering
    • New Biology : only certificates obtained within 4 years prior to the online application deadline are accepted
    • Interdisciplinary Engineering : only certificates obtained within 2 years prior to the online application deadline are accepted
  • Only official certificates issued by authorized institutions will be accepted (including TOEIC, TOEFL IBT·CBT·PBT, IELTS, and TEPS etc.)
  • There is no minimum requirement for the test score
  • Exemption from test certificate submission
    • Applicants who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from universities located in countries where English is a native language

      Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States

    • Applicants who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from universities located in countries where English is an official language

      It is required to submit a certificate which proves the completion of courses in English

Certificate of Employment & Recommendation Letter from Others
  • Compulsory for General Scholarship type applicants
  • The form of recommendation letter is provided on Archive of DGIST Admissions website
Other Certificates Certificates demonstrating the applicant's competencies and potential.
Recommendation Letter
  • Submission of recommendation letter is optional
  • Recommendation letter must be submitted directly by the recommender to the DGIST Admissions Team (admission@dgist.ac.kr)
  • Recommendation letter must be written using the provided form
  • There is no limit to the number of recommendation letters that can be submitted
  • The first part of recommendation letter must be completed with a signature by an applicant

Type B and C must be uploaded as a single merged PDF file (smaller than 8MB)

Important notes

  1. A. Application form and Statement of Purpose must be submitted via the online application system.
  2. B. The link of online application system will be posted at DGIST Admissions website: dgist.ac.kr/gadm/ and dgist.ac.kr/iadm/
  3. C. Degree certificates, official transcripts and other required documents must be written in English.
  4. D. Please combine all required documents, except for the application form and statement of purpose, into a single PDF file and upload it to the online application page by the deadline.
  5. E. Applicants are fully responsible for any disadvantage that may occur due to errors and/or omissions in the information provided.
  6. F. All applicants should check the results on the DGIST Admissions website. It is the applicant’s responsibility to check the results.
  7. G. Successful candidates must submit the required documents to complete registration. Otherwise, admissions will be canceled.
  8. H. Submitted documents will not be returned. If any of the documents contain false information, admissions will be canceled.
  9. I. If the successful candidates do not graduate from their previous school by the enrollment date (starting date of study at DGIST), their admission will be canceled.
  10. J. Successful candidates who have studied abroad should submit the degree certificate and transcripts that have been apostilled or authenticated by the Korean embassy. If they fail to submit these documents, their admissions will be canceled.
  11. K. Dual enrollment or registration is strictly prohibited at DGIST Graduate School. If you are found to be registered at another institution simultaneously, you will be expelled from DGIST..
  12. L. Successful candidates who have studied in China should submit the documents issued by the Ministry of Chinese Education. (中國高等敎育學歷査詢報告; http://www.chsi.com.cn)
  13. M. For successful candidates who did not submit the English Proficiency Certificate, please check the visa issuance policy of the Korean embassy in your country. Some embassies may require you to submit the English Proficiency Certificate when applying for a visa.
  14. N. To ensure that your application is complete, please upload all required documents. If any required documents are missing, your application will not be considered for evaluation.
