Student Growth Periodic Global Programs

DGIST’s global programs are designed in stages according to the growth phases of students, and all programs are designed to enhance global competencies, such as global communication skills, multicultural openness, and understanding.

In the lower years, the focus is on providing overseas experiences to broaden perspectives and individual course strengthening to enhance academic competence, cultivate a global mindset, and improve global communication skills. In the upper years, the focus is on enhancing research competence, building investigative competence, and providing experiences linked to career paths.

Support for Overseas Courses

FGLP(Freshmen Global Leadership)

Cultivating global leadership through regular courses during the summer session at renowned overseas universities

As of 2023

For first-and second-year students
(within four semesters)
Operated during the summer vacation.
A total of six universities.
Support of up to KRW 10 million per person
(including tuition and dormitory fees; personal expenses for airfare and visa issuance are borne by the individual).

Overseas University Credit Exchange

Increasing major and global competencies by completing courses at partner universities abroad.

  • Program

    Second- to fourth-year students study abroad for one semester or one year, and the credits earned are recognized by DGIST.

  • Eligibility

    Completion of regular four semesters (two semesters for Koc University), and possession of an accredited English score (varies by university, minimum TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.0).

  • Support

    Exemption of tuition fees at dispatched universities, recognition of course credits at DGIST, and a scholarship of KRW 3 million per semester.

Overseas Internship Support

Recognition of DGIST credits when participating in overseas internships.

DURA (DGIST Undergraduate Resarch Award)

Providing opportunities for growth as a global science and technology talent through research and training at excellent research institutions abroad.

Type1
  • DGIST : Sending students selected internally by DGIST to designated overseas institutions.
  • Dispatched institutions: Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Virginia, Rutgers University, McMaster University in Canada, Ulm University in Germany, ETH-Zurich in Switzerland, etc.
Scholarship
  • Expenses : KRW 3 million for the Americas, Europe, and others, KRW 1.5 million for Asia.
  • Living expenses : KRW 600,000 per month for the Americas, Europe, and others, KRW 300,000 per month for Asia.
Type2

Students directly contact research labs and faculty in their field of interest to conduct research internships.

  • Example programs : Caltech's 'SURF,' Weizmann Institute of Science's 'Kupcinet-Getz International Summer School,' etc.
Scholarship
  • Expenses : KRW 3 million for the Americas, Europe, and others, KRW 1.5 million for Asia.
Type3

Students directly contact research labs and faculty in their field of interest to conduct research internships.

Scholarship
  • Expenses : KRW 3 million for the Americas, Europe, and others, KRW 1.5 million for Asia.
  • Living expenses : KRW 600,000 per month for the Americas, Europe, and others, KRW 300,000 per month for Asia.

GIIA (Global Industry Internship Award)

Enhancing international practical skills and global competencies through internships in overseas industries.

Type1
  • Students selected internally by DGIST conduct internships in overseas industrial settings.
  • Support details vary by program.
Type2
  • Students individually apply and participate in internships at overseas industrial companies.
  • Example programs : IAESTE, WEST programs, Google internships, etc.
  • Support : KRW 3 million scholarship.

Buddy Program

Cultivating an international mindset by communicating with foreign incoming students and visiting students.

Recruitment timing

Beginning of the semester, end of the semester, before the summer vacation.

Support

KRW 160,000 per team (As of 2023).
