Type A : Compulsory Documents to fill out online application page
Application Form & Statement of Purpose
  • Can be written in English, Korean or Both
  • 4 questions for Statement of Purpose
    1. 1) Describe your medium and long-term vision as a researcher and motivations for pursuing a graduate degree in your chosen program of study at DGIST.
    2. 2) Discuss your research interest, its significance and future plans for it.
    3. 3) Write your relevant academic and research experiences, achievements related to your applying field (such as research accomplishments, publications, honors and awards).
    4. 4) Describe experiences solving problems or conflict while participating in volunteering works and extracurricular activities.

For Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Ph.D. program applicants: we highly recommend you to contact the faculty member before applying and mention the name of research lab you wish to join in your Statement of Purpose.

For Electrical Engineering and Computer Science applicants: please write at least one to a maximum of three of the research areas of interest in your Statement of Purpose.

※ Documents for Type B&C must be uploaded in one merged PDF file downsized under 8MB.

Application Documents - Type B, Type C
Type B : Compulsory Documents to upload on online application page, must be written in English
For applicants from foreign universities, Type B documents should be attested by apostille or Korean embassy
Degree Certificate (either completed or to be completed)
  • M.S. / Integrated M.S.&Ph.D. applicants : Undergraduate degree certificate
  • Ph.D. Applicants : Both Undergraduate and Graduate degree certificates

Please submit a certificate of enrollment if you can not hand in certificate of (expected) graduation.

Official Transcripts
  • M.S. / Integrated M.S.&Ph.D. applicants : Undergraduate official transcript
  • Ph.D. applicants : Both Undergraduate and Graduate official transcripts

Applicants for New Biology must include a class rank in the transcripts.

Type C : Optional Documents to upload on online application page
English Proficiency Certificate
  • Compulsory for Physics and Chemistry / New Biology / Interdisciplinary Engineering Major in Interdisciplinary Studies
  • Only official certificates are allowed
    • TOEIC, TOEFL IBT, TOEFL CBT, TOEFL PBT, IELTS, TEPS etc.
  • No minimum score is required for application
  • English Proficiency Certificate Exemption
    • Applicants who completed their degree programs in English speaking countries*

    * Australia, Canada, Guyana, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States

    • Applicants who completed their degree programs in countries whose official language is English*
      (Certificate showing that the applicants have completed their degree courses in English have to be submitted)

    * If the certificate is proven to be a forgery or false document, the admission will be canceled

    • Applicants who have already been admitted their English proficiency in DGIST Graduate School admissions.
Certificate of Employment
  • Compulsory for General Scholarship applicants
  • The prescribed form for the recommendation letter is downloadable at DGIST Admissions website
Recommendation Letter from Others

  • Other certificates that show the applicant’s competences and potentials
Application Documents - Type D
Type D: Optional Documents to submit via e-mail directly by the evaluator
Letter of Recommendation
  • Must be submitted by the evaluator via e-mail : admission@dgist.ac.kr
  • The prescribed form is downloadable at DGIST Admissions website
  • No limitation on the number of recommendation letters
  • Please avoid to use the domain ‘163.com’ as our security program detect it as a junk mail.

Important notes

  1. A - Application form and Statement of Purpose must be submitted via the online application system.
  2. B - ‘Online application system’ link will be posted at DGIST Admissions website: dgist.ac.kr/iadm/
  3. C - Degree certificate, official transcripts, and other required documents must be written in English.
  4. D - Required documents must be uploaded on online application page by the deadline. (Please make a single PDF file combining all the documents for Type B&C.)
  5. E - Applicants are fully responsible for any disadvantage that may occur due to errors and/or omissions in the information provided.
  6. F - All applicants should check the results on the DGIST Admissions website. It is the applicant’s responsibility to check the results.
  7. G - Successful candidates must submit the required documents to complete registration. Otherwise, admissions will be canceled.
  8. H - Submitted documents will not be returned. If any of the documents contain false information, admissions will be canceled.
  9. I - If the successful candidates do not graduate from the previous school by the enrollment date(starting date of study in DGIST), his/her admissions will be canceled.
  10. J - Successful candidates who have studied abroad should submit the degree certificate and the transcripts with apostille or having been authenticated by the Korean embassy. Their admissions shall be cancelled if they do not submit the documents.
  11. K - Dual enrollment(registration) is strictly prohibited for DGIST Graduate School. If you are with dual registration, you will be expelled from DGIST.
  12. L - Successful candidates who have studied in China should submit the documents issued by the Ministry of Chinese Education. (中國高等敎育學歷査詢報告;http://www.chsi.com.cn)
  13. M – Successful candidates who did not submit the English Proficiency Certificate, you have to check the visa issuance policy of Korean embassy in your country. Some embassy requires to submit the English Proficiency Certificate when you apply for visa.
  14. N – All applicants must upload the required documents to complete application. Otherwise, you will be excluded from the evaluation.
