The current silicon cells have low absorption coefficients, making high-quality crystalline materials essential. Additionally, silicon solar cells are not flexible, making it difficult to apply them in various solar power generation fields. However, thin film solar cells with high absorption coefficients(Cu-In-Ga-Se, Cu-Zn-Sn-SSe) can be implemented on lightweight and flexible substrates, enabling integration into buildings, vehicles, and contributing to various solar power generation applications.
Our research center aims to secure world-class thin film solar cell technology through the development of cadmium telluride-based thin film solar cell absorber layers and devices. Furthermore, we seek to apply thin film solar cell technology using flexible and lightweight substrates for integrated solar panels in buildings and vehicles.
