Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program is a program for all undergraduate students of DGIST, allowing them to consult with their professors regarding academics, overall life, and careers.

Mentoring Program Overview

1st and 2nd year students are given lifestyle mentoring to provide advice on lifestyle and academics, while 3rd and 4th year students are given career mentoring to provide advice on careers and further studies.

Students are given the opportunity to interact with their mentor professors through individual mentoring, and with their seniors and juniors through group mentoring, cultivating a sense of belonging to the DGIST community.

Mentor Assignment

Lifestyle Mentoring
  • Mentoring of 1st and 2nd year students by undergraduate faculty
  • Assignment period: Early Jan-Mid Feb
  • Target: Freshmen
  • Assignment criteria: High school, gender, address, etc.
Career Mentoring
  • Mentoring of 3rd and 4th year students by graduate faculty
  • Assignment period: Mid Nov-Mid Feb
  • Target: Students enrolled in 2nd semester of 2nd year and students scheduled to move on to the 3rd year
  • Assignment criteria: Desired major and survey of demand for mentors

Key Activities

Group mentoring:
Regular meetings between mentor and mentees to discuss problems and issues faced by the students
Individual mentoring:
Personalized mentoring for individual students on topics such as adapting to school life, academic achievements, career and interpersonal relationships
