Introduction

CUop (Company-University Cooperation)

CUop is an academia-industry education program for providing students with on-site experience. It brings together the human and material resources of the science and technology university, with the local academia-industry network of mid-sized firms in the region. The goal is to support local enterprises in global expansion, while supporting talent development in the STEM field.

CUop Overview

1. The CUop Program for Academia-Industry Cooperation focuses on pratical problem solving, making it an attractive program for both students and companies, and helping to address actual issues in local industry

2. Students at science and technology universities gain work experience at the company, and in the process, define the technological problem to be solved or improvement to be made, and develop solutions through a project-based course in the regular curriculum

3. An academia-industry cooperation program that provides opportunities for science and technology universities to support businesses and entrepreneurship

CUop Program Operation Method

* CUop comprises the Coop Program and Engineering-Clinic (Capstone Design) Program

CUop comprises the Coop Program and Engineering-Clinic (Capstone Design) Program. “Training problem-solving professionals” “Solving real world problems and technological bottlenecks for enterprises” Summer/Winter Holidays: 8 weeks (Coop Program) / cademia-Industry Cooperation Internship Program.Spring/Fall Semester : Engineering-Clinic Program (16 weeks) / Regular course focusing on transdisciplinary capstone design project

Providing students with practical training related to their majors while defining the technological bottlenecks and tasks for improvement in businesses

  • · Students :Analyzing problem solving tasks in the actual field of work related to their majors
  • · Businesses :Providing relevant training and assigning creative problem solving roles

CUop Program (Academia-Industry Cooperation Internship)

  • Process for participating students :Online application > Idea generation report submission (1st at week 4/2nd at week 8) > Final outcome report submission > Program satisfaction survey
  • Process for participating companies : Online application > Checking the attendance log of participating students (daily) > Submitting participating student evaluation after program completion > Program satisfaction survey
  • Benefits for companies :Full sum of internship fees (scholarship) for all student
  • Benefits for students :Internship fees (scholarship) of approx. 4 mil. KRW (varies between the universities)
