DGIST Selected as Supervising Institute for 2021 Free Economic Zone Innovation Ecosystem Creation Project

DGIST was selected as the supervising institute for the ‘2021 Free Economic Zone Innovation Ecosystem Creation Project,’ funded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

DGIST will strengthen corporate competitiveness and facilitate their growth centered on the tenants of Technopolis, Daegu, which is designated as a free economic zone, mainly in core strategic industries such as automobile parts, mechatronics, IT convergence, and green energy fields, through commercialization and technical support based on future demand.

Through the project, DGIST will support approximately 25 companies with six distinguished programs; support for regulatory exceptions, support for the establishment of commercialization strategy, support for commercialization package (improvement of design products, preparation of prototypes, marketing support, support for global business consultation), acquisition of certificates through technical support, technical advice, and IP R&D strategy consulting.

In particular, with the support of regulatory improvement, the companies are expected to preoccupy the market by enhancing the system’s effectiveness and strengthening competitiveness. Also, DGIST will serve as the base for sustainable economic development by increasing capabilities in corporate management by leading local business growth and providing an environment where companies that attracted domestic and foreign investments may accelerate innovation in connection with the local industrial ecosystem.

Furthermore, DGIST will establish an Industry-Academia-Institute Consultative Group within Technopolis to operate the collaboration network mainly connected with DGIST. Through the network, DGIST will continue to solve difficulties that companies may experience, and to eliminate restrictions, and support commercialization. Such activities are expected to lead innovative growth of the free economic zone, distinguished from other regions, through industry-academia-institute cooperation.
