Research Center for Thin Film Solar Cell

Research Center for Thin Film Solar Cell

World-class thin film solar cell research center

Currently used silicon solar cells have a low absorption coefficient, so thick high-quality crystalline materials are indispensable, thus silicon solar cell is difficult to apply to various solar power generation fields, such as building/vehicle integrated solar cell. However, thin film solar cells using high absorption coefficients materials (Cu-In-Ga-Se, Cu-Zn-Sn-SSe) can be used on lightweight/flexible substrates, so that solar modules can be integrated with buildings/vehicles.

Research Center for Thin Film Solar Cell aims to secure world-class thin-film solar cell technology by developing high quality light absorption layer and device based on the chalcogenide. Also, we develop flexible/lightweight thin film solar cell technology that can be used in building and vehicle integrated solar cells.

Research Goals
  • Developed of world best chalcogenide-based thin-film solar cell device
  • Development of high-quality light absorption layer of chalcogenide-based thin-film solar cell
  • Development of flexible/light-weight thin-film solar cell technology for building and vehicle
