DGIST’s Start-Up Dream Ace to Join

Connected Car Project

Dream Ace, a DGIST’s technology-based venture company, will

participate in the Connected Car platform project with global companies as a

silver member of Automotive Grade Linux (AGL). Connected Car is an intelligent

vehicle combined with ICT that provides two-way internet and mobile services.

AGL is an open-source operating system of Tizen Project run by

the Linux Foundation. The auto infotainment open platform is now emerged as a

standard of In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI).

AGL has more than 90 members including global automakers such as

Toyota, Ford, Honda and Nissan. Among eight new members of 2017, Dream Ace is

the only silver member, while ARM and Electrobit are bronze members. Dream Ace

ranked silver along with global companies like Mercedes Benz, Continental,

Nissan and Qualcomm. Major Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics, LG

Electronics, and Hyundai Mobis ranked as bronze members.

Dream Ace is a start-up specialized in an automotive embedded

solution. The company was established in January, 2016, with DGIST’s automotive

software platform technology and real-time operating system technology and

Dream Lab’s capital. In an effort to foster autonomous vehicle technology

personnel, Dream Ace distributes the educational solution applied with AUTOSAR

(AUTomotive Open System Architecture) to the Meister high schools,

universities, graduate schools, and corporations nationwide.

Dream Ace has been selected as the world’s first start-up key

member of the AGL in recognition of developing technology of DAVINCI (DrimAES

AGL Visual Launcher), which is the user interface (UI) of AGL platform.

With the existing AGL platform, smartphone users have

difficulties to experience a well-connected car platform as the platform

realized the embedded software of the traditional dashboard. However, DAVINCI,

developed by Dream Ace, is evaluated that it has developed the foundation to

create connected car service like smartphone applications as it provides a

variety of UI layouts and compoenets such as touch features for zooming in and

out on a map or image, flicking function to move left and right by touching the

screen when checking weather, news and traffic information and a pop-up window

that is easy to grasp information

Director of the Center for Technology and Commercialization and

Innovation Lim JinWoo said, "Dream Ace was able to earn the AGL Silver

Membership, in recognition of innovative ideas and capabilities. We will work

closely with DGIST to lead the development of software that will be installed

in vehicles."
