Successful Completion of "DGIST 2018 Briefing Session on Convergence Innovation Technology Transfer"

- Laid the cornerstone by signing an MOU with VRES CUBE -

‘2018 Briefing Session on Convergence Innovation Technology Transfer’ organized jointly by DGIST and the Technology Transfer Center for National R&D Programs ended with huge success. Held at 1pm on Wednesday, Sept. 19 in Coex, Samseong-dong, Seoul, the briefing session was organized to introduce DGIST’s research performance to participating companies for ‘value creation’, one of the top 3 innovation strategies of DGIST, generate the growth engine of the entire society, and build various cooperation systems with companies.

During the briefing session, professors and researchers who developed 8 innovative technologies introduced their new technologies, including the ‘wearable thermometer using magnetic sensor’ by Professor Sung-won Lee of Emerging Materials Science Major, and carried out counseling on technology transfer related inquiries. The briefing session also gave counseling on follow-up connected support business after technology transfer by the Technology Transfer Center for National R&D Programs, Daegu Technopark, and Seoul Technopark as well as technology chance support program by the Technology Finance Corporation. It plans to offer a finance support needed for follow-up support and technology commercialization if technology transfer is successful.

Before the briefing session, DGIST entered MOU with Technology Transfer Center for National R&D Programs for scientific technology transfer and commercialization. Through this agreement, both institutions promised to strengthen their cooperation and network related to technological commercialization and build an organic cooperation system to transfer and expand the performance of promising technologies for commercialization by DGIST. Also, DGIST and companies held a ceremony for signing the technology transfer MOU.

The ‘Daily Healthcare Technology’ that VRES CUBE (CEO Dae-jong Baek), a developer of 4th industry-related convergence business model, will be transferred is a preventive healthcare service platform that measures a user’s physical and mental state in real-time to maintain a healthy condition. By using this technology, VRES CUBE plans to develop healthcare systems such as a wellness health-customized solution which is expected to develop a business model in the era of 4th industrial revolution with an increasing interest toward health.

President Sang Hyuk Son of DGIST said “If innovative DGIST technologies introduced this time are successfully transferred to companies, it will greatly help them secure competitiveness to lead the 4th industrial revolution. To ensure scientific technologies developed based on convergence research lead to technological transfer and commercialization, we will play a leading role in creating an innovative ecology for active cooperation of industry-academy-research.”
