Interdisciplinary Engineering Major in Interdisciplinary Studies

We study future mobility and next generation devices & materials.

Interdisciplinary Engineering Major in Interdisciplinary Studies conducts research and education on fields of future moving objects and emerging devices, as key elements of the 4th industrial revolution, through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary education for comprehensive design thinking solution. The main goal is to foster science and technology professionals with the ability to build and solve problems by conducting joint education and research at Convergence Research Institute along with other departments of DGIST Graduate School.

    • Interdisciplinary Engineering Major in Interdisciplinary Studies provides courses in autonomous moving objects, intelligent robots, and advanced materials and devices.
    • The major allows students to experience interdisciplinary research, Research and Business Development which are difficult in a traditional single major.
    • Students can take a various subject of linked majors at DGIST Graduate School and learn a high level of knowledge and methodology by participating in national or private research projects conducted by DGIST Convergence Research Institute.
    • Students can select more than two co-supervisors and conduct extensive and in-depth research from various professors and researchers.
    • In consultation with the advisors, students will be asked to select the basic courses that are appropriate for your research field.
    • After taking the basic courses, advanced technology courses specialized in designated research fields will improve your competency through participating research projects.
    • Every semester, students perform a Project Based Research carried out by DGIST Convergence Research Institute.
    • As the title of ‘Interdisciplinary Engineering Major in Interdisciplinary Studies’ itself means, the major is to conduct interdisciplinary research to develop new technologies of next generation leading related industries.
    • We actively welcome students to graduate from majors in a variety of science and engineering fields. It means that even if you do not complete a specific engineering education, you can apply as long as you have basic knowledge for your desired major after entering graduate school.
    • After graduation, you can work in industries and academia mainly related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the domestic and foreign markets, such as IT, automobiles, robots, energy, and more. Typical examples of private corporations are Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Motor.
    • Furthermore, there are government-funded research institutes such as the ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), ADD (Agency for Defense Development), KITECH (Korea Institute of Industrial Technology).
    • In addition, it is possible to work in convergence fields that the students are desired based on the various domestic and international research cooperation networks established by DGIST.
